On Oct. 7th only, Dance Express moves on over to The River Garden
DJ Wheeler at the October 7th Dance Express:
DJ Wheeler's will be spinning global electronic and world music
with deeply organic rhythms for Dance Express on October 7th at The
River Garden right in the heart of downtown Brattleboro. Because of a
reading that is part of The Brattleboro Literary Festival at the usual
venue of The Church, the dance will move on down the road for just this
one time.
The musical journey that Wheeler creates reflect his life and his
spiritual path. Wheeler became involved with a local dance in Santa
Cruz, CA that changed is view of DJing. Originally from Florida, he had
been spinning regularly for Dance New England and began leading Dance
Churches at the 418 Dance Project in Santa Cruz, glorying in their
Sunday morning dances of over 100 people. When he returned to western
MA, inspired and determined, Wheeler teamed up with DJ Root to create
Dance Spirit in Northampton, as well as 3 Groove Temple fund raisers for
global disaster relief. He is a regular DJ for Friday night Dance Spree
in Northhampton MA, a trained emergency medical technician, and has
recently applied to study Nursing at Greenfield Community College.
Dance Express is an all volunteer-run dance and is being held on
the first and third Saturdays of every month from 8:00 pm to midnight.
The Church is located at 120 Main Street (next to the Post Office) in
Brattleboro. Admission is a sliding scale from $4-7. Children under 12
are admitted free. The format of the dance is unstructured and dancing
is to a great variety of inspired recorded music
