Tibetan Buddhist to teach Kindness and Compassion at Sanctuary WestWest

Saturday, November 4, 2006

10am to 3pm

Geshe Ngawang Singey was born in Tibet in 1965 and escaped to India in 1982. He was ordained as a Buddhist monk at the age of 16 by His Holiness the 13th Dalai Lama. After 20 years of study he attained the Geshe Degree (the highest degree obtainable in Buddhism). For many years he was a much loved teacher at Sera Je Monastery in India. He moved to Vermont in 2003. Geshe-la is a teacher of great clarity and his warm and loving presence is apparent to all who meet him. His teaching today will be on Bodhicitta (loving kindness and compassion) which is his specialty.

Geshe-la is giving this one-day teaching in hopes of attracting students who are interested in a more in-depth course of several weekends in which he will cover the fundamentals of Tibetan Buddhism. We feel very honored that he has agreed to come to Westminster West for one of his first teachings in the area. It is important to reserve your place early, in case we need to change to a larger venue. Admission by Donation. Pot luck lunch.
